Choose a skill you can demonstrate
“Learn graphics” is a territory. “Animate an object and explain the transformation” is a destination you can inspect. Choose an outcome small enough to practise and broad enough to matter to you.

Map the prerequisites
List what the outcome depends on. Put familiar concepts beside unfamiliar ones. This helps you choose whether the next book should introduce a foundation, provide a worked example, or deepen an existing skill.

Pair reading with evidence
After each session, save one explanation, sketch, test, or result. Over time, those pieces show where your understanding has developed and where the same difficulty keeps returning.

Review the route
At a regular interval, ask whether the original goal still fits. You can skip, revisit, or replace a resource. Finishing a reading list is less useful than making it respond to what you learn.
